Blink and they’re already bigger! Each age and stage does go so quickly and there’s still so much for them learn that will help them move onto the next stage. That’s why at Bright Start O’Fallon, we use an age-appropriate, engaging and interactive curriculum in each of our rooms, providing the children in our care with exactly what they need to know while meeting them on their level to prepare them for the next step.
When you look at your baby, you may wonder why Bright Start Academy O’Fallon has a curriculum for them at all! After all, babies are happy spending their days playing peek-a-boo, sucking on their fingers, and taking naps! But when you think about all of the changes they go through in their first year, you realize that a baby’s brain never stops working. They spend their days absorbing their environment and learning all about what’s around them! Using all of their senses, they are constantly thinking, learning, and even problem-solving their world! So, while the curriculum for our babies doesn’t look quite like the Pre-K room, we still make sure to keep your baby learning with stimulating things to look at, different textures to touch, and fun activities to try. And all this learning and playing means when it’s nap time, they are more than ready to rest!
Our preschoolers at Bright Start Academy O’Fallon have calmed down a little and are ready to learn, and show off their newly acquired skills. They are starting to grasp beginning reading and math concepts, and they are building on them every single day! Learning letters, numbers and shapes soon turns into writing letters and learning their sounds, writing numbers as well as counting. Using a wide variety of manipulative, block play, sensory exploration, and pretend play, helps develop a great academic foundation, while still encouraging creativity and having fun. On top of that, these activities are teaching them the social skills that they need to move onto their next stage of education. Skills like getting along with others, following a routine, waiting in line, and listening and following directions are essential to a smooth transition into school so that’s a big area of focus in the Bright Start Academy O’Fallon curriculum. Our pre-kindergarteners and kindergarteners are getting ready for their next big adventure, and we want them to be prepared! That’s why Bright Start Academy O’Fallon has consulted with the surrounding school district to structure our curriculum around what is required for them to know for kindergarten entry. Our children graduate our program with letter writing, sound recognition, name recognition, reading sight words, writing, listening to and following directions. Our kids learn to counting to 100, identifying numbers 0-30, sorting, measuring, coin recognition, and even graphing! Art, music, science, and outdoor play enhance the curriculum at Bright Start Academy O’Fallon and keep the environment fun and stimulating, as well. By following a structured routine, with time to learn and time to play, children are getting preparing them for what their day will be like in kindergarten. And for those children who attend half day kindergarten, they get the benefits of a full day of learning, as we supplement their program with more skills and lots of fun!
